Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 30, 2026
Toe Beans LLC ("Toe Beans," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Toe Beans website and mobile app (together, the "Service"), which help people manage pet profiles, apply to adopt animals listed by participating organizations, and report and search for lost and found pets. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create a Toe Beans account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address, along with a password (stored in encrypted form, never as plain text). You may optionally add a profile photo.
Pet Profile Information
For each pet you register, we collect information you choose to provide, such as the pet's name, species, breed, age or birth date, color and markings, medical or spay/neuter status, notes, and photos.
Adoption Profile Information
If you complete an Adoption Profile to apply to adopt a pet, we collect household details you provide, which may include: housing type, whether you rent or own (and your landlord's name/phone if you rent and choose to share it), yard type, number of adults and children in the household, current pets, previous pet experience, your veterinarian's contact information, and your adoption preferences.
Location Information
With your permission, the app accesses your device's precise location so you can report where a pet was lost or spotted, or use your saved home address as a starting point for a report. Location access is optional and only used when you actively create or view a lost-pet report or sighting.
Photos and Camera Access
The app requests access to your camera and photo library only when you choose to take or select a photo — for example, a pet photo, a sighting photo, or a profile picture. We do not access your camera or photos in the background.
Push Notification Data
If you enable notifications, your device is assigned a push notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service) so we can deliver alerts, such as a potential match for a lost pet or an update on an adoption application.
Usage and Device Information
Our servers automatically log standard technical information needed to operate the Service, such as request timestamps and device/app version, for security and troubleshooting purposes.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account and pet profiles
- To let you submit adoption applications to organizations listing pets on Toe Beans
- To match lost-pet reports with community sightings and notify affected users
- To send you account, security, and activity notifications
- To respond to support requests
- To maintain the security and reliability of the Service
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:
- Adoption applications: when you apply to adopt a pet, we send a snapshot of your Adoption Profile to the specific organization listing that pet, so they can review your application.
- Push notification delivery: your device's notification token is shared with Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) solely to deliver notifications to your device.
- Legal reasons: if required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Toe Beans, our users, or the public.
Your Choices
- You can edit or remove information in your account, pet, and adoption profiles at any time.
- You can disable location, camera, or photo access at any time from your device's system settings.
- You can disable push notifications from your device's system settings.
- You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app (Profile → Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing us at [email protected]. See Delete Your Account for full details on what gets deleted.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or security purposes.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated through the Service.
